Episode 008 - Leaders grow impact in online communities using the Know, Like, Trust Factor
Show Notes
Leaders need followers. To gain traction in your online communities you need engagement. Followers that know, like, and trust you will follow you and support you.
No matter what platform you decide to use and grow your community there are a few steps to gaining momentum.
1. Get known online.
2. Grow likeability online.
3. Gain trust online.
From my interviews with environmental leaders - they are using the following social media platforms as follows:
Science folks love Twitter for science.
Science folks love Instagram for personal use.
Science folks seem to be a bit lost with Facebook - perhaps they use it for family and other purposes, but it falls in between.
Science folks are not really using LinkedIn - only to put a few details about their work experience, but they tend to also host a personal webpage.
There are some findings here, that I think will help many scientists, environmental leaders, students, and other folks working in conservation.
