Haley is passionate about protecting this planet and the species that live here. She helped raise over $4 million for nonprofit organizations through corporate partnerships, grants, individual donors, and fundraising events. She has a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Conservation and a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Leadership and Management.
She worked with the Surfrider Foundation in Vancouver and San Diego, before becoming 5 Gyres' Development and Partnerships Director and FinalStraw's Strategic Partnerships Manager.
She is on the Board of Directors of Surfrider Foundation Canada, a volunteer with STOKED Mentoring teaching underserved youth to snowboard and surf, and a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Los Angeles Chapter.

5 Gyres is launching a new citizen science program called TrashBlitz. TrashBlitz engages locals communities in evaluating their plastic pollution footprint. The project will pilot in Los Angeles, with downstream sampling (nearshore, beach, and river) taking place on April 20th and upstream sampling (parks and streets) on May 11th. Community members will document the quantities and types of plastic they find, as well as brands when possible. The data collected will be used to develop mitigation strategies to stop the flow of plastic pollution from land-based sources to the sea. TrashBlitzwill also connect inland communities to the issue of plastic pollution, which has primarily focused on the coasts and oceans. Please see the attached invite and list of partners.
