Episode 065 - Dan Flores

Show Notes

Dan Flores, New York Times Best Selling Author of the book Coyote America shares his love for coyotes and how he researched the various parts of their lives. We talk about writing and researching a wildlife species biography - along with ethics that writers should think about. We dive into the book chapters, how he composed them, and how the human relationship with coyotes is evolving over time.
"I didn't really start working on the book until about the time I retired from the University of Montana in 2014, but I had the idea that I was going to write a book about coyotes and I thought it was probably going to be the kind of book that will let me transition from writing for university presses and academic work to writing for popular audiences and being published by a New York press and so that story kind of became, for at least for me, as a transition to writing for a different and national audiences." Dan shares his move from academic writing to the creation of Coyote America.
